((Breathe Owl Breathe)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness

I just saw Breathe Owl Breathe perform and singer Micah Middaugh was wearing a cape on stage. Now it's a good thing the audience liked his songs, or he might have shot laser beams out of his eyes at us. Yikes!

This Michigan band features vocalist/guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Middaugh, cellist/supporting soprano singer Andrea Moreno-Beals, and drummer Trevor Hobbs. Instantly, I was reminded of Jens Lekman when they played their deliciously tender songs about love, life and death and things. Listen to them and tell me you don't hear that Swede in here somewhere.

Breathe Owl Breathe are also a lot like The Magnetic Fields (see: Jens). There are violins and glockenspiels, banjos and vibraphones at work here, too. Kind of sounds like Jens too, right? So I'm going out on a limb here to say that if you like Jens Lekman, you will like Breathe Owl Breathe.

Also, if your town is ever in the middle of a drought, call Micah and have him freeze a lake by blowing on it, and then he can drop the frozen lake on your town to make it start raining.
