((Big Eyes)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Written by Patrick McNamara

Brooklyn’s Big Eyes are a power pop punk duo (Kate + Chris + FOREVA) that rock snappy 2-3 minute distorted jingle jangles with driving rhythms. Driving rhythms mean you can drive to this. I think. Not sure. I stole that phrase from one of the other leading alt music blobs. I can’t remember which one. So let’s just say all of them.

Not to totally show how the sausage is made around here, but I first heard Big Eyes when I noticed on Whoa My Blobness (yeah - we use our own shit) that these two (remember: that’s Kate + Chris + FOREVA) were playing shows with Against Me! and Tony Molina. And I was all like, “Hey, I like those two bands! Maybe I’ll like this band too?!” I didn’t say this out loud, though. Just in my head. Because I have no friends. And I certainly don’t talk to myself. Except when writing these band profiles.

Anyway, I’m glad I listened to my head. Because I do indeed like Big Eyes. And I think you will too. Go ahead and give their instantly accessible “Almost Famous” album a listen. I have taken the liberty of sourcing it from the Intra Blob and copying and pasting its embeddable code below. Awww. I’m always going out of my way and doing sweet things like that. But I guess Big Eyes should get at least SOME of the credit. They’re the ones who made it.

(please pay attention to track #10 because the beginning sounds like "Don't Bring Me Down" by ELO)

Anyway, I hope you like Big Eyes. And by you, I might mean me. A blob can never tell.
