Oh My Rockness

Ra Ra Riot is a Syracuse six-piece that formed wayyyy back in January of 2006. (And they're only getting online attention now? What's wrong with these people!?) This is one poppy band, especially when they get the cello and violin action going. But just because they're a band with strings, they shouldn't really be considered, like, chamber pop. They're more just like pop pop.

They've been getting some Arcade Fire comparisons, but again, that's just because the strings. Their music is pleasant, sometimes a little silly, and generally good-natured. And vocalist/keyboardist Wesley Miles sure sounds like somebody I know, but I can't put my finger on whom. If you figure it out, let me know. Regardless, Ra Ra Riot are a feel-good band full of talent that can potentially brighten your night.
