Cadence Weapon is the alias of one Roland Pemberton. He's the twenty-one year old lyrical genius straight from the streets of Edmonton who's been wowing the northern North American crowd with his rap skills and commanding stage presence. Live, Cadence provides the rhymes and the antics, while DJ Weez-L provides the beats.

Going to a Cadence Weapon show is definitely an exercise is group participation. He often goes into the crowd and throws down tongue-twisting wordplay right under your nose. Perhaps Pemberton describes his persona best when he says Cadence is like when "Steve Urkel became Stefan Urquel." (That's also the moment Family Matters "jumped the shark.")

Cadence Weapon's well-received album, Breaking Kayfabe, was recently released by Upper Class records (also home The Russian Futurists).
