Edie Sedgwick
WEBSITE FOR EDIE SEDGWICK

Edie Sedgwick is the sexy stage name of Justin Moyer from Touch and Go's Supersystem (formerly known as Dischord's El Guapo). Edie wears a slinky cocktail dress and high-heels and sings short songs about celebrities, with her laptop providing the beats. It doesn't sound like much of an original hook, but this music is pretty irresistible.

Edie's debut album, Here Love is Real, But She is Not has most songs clocking in around the two-minute mark. The Apple-generated rhythms are lo-fi at best, and the lyrics certainly won't inspire you to reach for your "thinking cap" (not that they should, with song titles like "Michael J. Fox," "Christian Slater," and "Tom Hanks II." This is William Baldwin, not William Shakespeare). I'm not sure why I find myself listening to this album over and over.

Perhaps it's because Edie makes you want to laugh AND dance, a lethally entertaining one-two punch. And if nothing else, it's a good show to go to when you're completely wasted.
