Sweden's El Perro Del Mar is the stage name of the sweet-singing (and sad) Sarah Assbring. In the beginning, she worked with the similar sounding Swede, Jens Lekman, on a successful split release and then embarked on her first tour with him.

The most obvious reference point for El Perro Del Mar would be Cat Power, just because both are so bummed out all the time. But Assbring is no alto like Chan Marshall. Her soprano floats effortlessly over acoustic strums, chimes, and melancholic girl group harmonies. If you're down with the sadness, check out El Perro Del Mar.
